The City of Phoenix has 15 senior centers, which provide people 60 years of age or older or adults with disabilities with nutrition programs, group meals, educational opportunities, recreation and social activities, information, referral, advocacy, fall prevention, and transportation. These Arizona senior centers provide a variety of programs and services to help seniors over a certain age maintain their independence and vitality. Programs include activities, educational opportunities, counseling and support groups, volunteer opportunities, and wellness programs. Some senior centers in Arizona also offer meals, help with financial and medical paperwork, transportation to and from the center, shopping trips, outings, and other services to Arizona seniors.

Paradise Valley AZ Senior Center Activities include: * Clubs and classes - Arts & crafts, walking, support groups, watercolor painting lessons, ballroom dance lessons, quilting * Social activities and entertainment - Ballroom dancing, weekly special events * Games - Billiards, bingo, bridge, pinochle, poker, mah jong * Fitness - Yoga, aerobic exercise, chair exercise * Health and education - Weekly continental breakfast, health screenings, food programs Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. Lunch reservations are required 48 hours in advance. Check the menu for daily meal choices. Meals are planned using nutrition guidelines for older adults.

Congregate Meals in Arizona Senior Centers Many Arizona Senior Centers serve congregate hot meals for a small fee. Usually you need to call the Senior Center a day in advance. To reserve your congregate meal breakfast or lunch contact your local senior center. Seniors age 60 and above are eligible to receive free meals in a congregate meal setting regardless of income. These programs contribute greatly to senior nutrition and health; shown by poll responses given by seniors who participate in these programs in Arizona senior centers : Most say they enjoy the hot meals and socialization as the main benefit to them of the senior center.
